The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued the counselling schedule for NEET PG 2025 admissions for both All India Quota (AIQ) and state quota seats, as well as the final seat position for postgraduate broad speciality courses for the academic year 2025–26.
According to a public notice issued by NMC’s Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), NEET PG counselling for the 2025 academic session would take place in numerous rounds, including round 1, round 2, round 3, and a stray vacancy round, for both AIQ and state quota seats.
State counselling bodies have been directed to strictly adhere to the counselling schedule notified by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to ensure uniformity and avoid overlap between AIQ and state quota counselling.
According to the program, the first round of counselling took place between October and November 2025, followed by the second round in December.
Round 3 counselling is planned to last until January 2026, with the stray vacancy round ending by the end of January 2026. The deadline for joining given seats in all rounds has been set at January 31, 2026, whereas the academic session for PG courses began on December 22, 2025.
The NMC has also underlined that Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted holidays would be recognized as working days to ensure that the counselling process is completed on time.
Alongside the counselling schedule, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has released the final seat matrix for post-graduate broad speciality courses for the academic year 2025-26. The seat matrix reflects the number of PG seats available across medical colleges and institutions as on December 8, 2025, including seats approved on or before that date under the purview of the NMC.
Medical colleges and institutes have been urged to verify the seat details shown against their names and submit any inconsistencies to the MARB within 15 days of receiving the notice. The NMC has advised that failure to notify anomalies within the specified time frame may influence the updating of student admission details on the NMC admission portal.
Students are urged to monitor the official MCC and NMC websites on a regular basis for information on seat allocation, joining deadlines, and further counselling instructions.
