The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2025 test date was published by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on February 7. The NTA NEET UG 2025 test calendar states that the NEET UG will take place on May 4 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. The application window has also been opened by NTA. NEET UG 2025 registration is available at neet.nta.nic.in.
NTA has clarified that an APAAR ID is not mandatory for NEET 2025 registration.
NEET UG, the only exam for entry to UG medical and allied courses in India will be conducted on May 4 in a pen and paper mode. According to the official circular from the NTA, the results for NEET UG 2025 would be announced by June 14, 2025. Editing the application form will be possible from March 9 to March 11, with the NEET UG 2025 application window closing on March 7.
In addition to admission to UG courses in the BAMS, BUMS, and BSMS programs of the Indian System of Medicine in all medical schools, the NEET UG 2025 results and merit list will also be used for admission to BDS, BVSC, and AH programs. NEET UG results will also be used to determine admission to the National Commission for Homeopathy’s BHMS program.
Candidates for the Military Nursing Service (MNS) must be eligible for NEET UG in order to be admitted to the BSc Nursing programs offered at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals in 2025. Shortlisting for admission to the four-year BSc Nursing program would be based on the NEET UG score.
Despite the controversy surrounding the paper leak, the administration chose to administer the NEET UG using pen and paper because of logistics. The NTA cannot afford to repeat the humiliating experience of the first Central University Entrance Test (CUET), which saw technical issues (due to poorly prepared test centers) forcing examination cancellation at the last minute on multiple days. However, an online exam would limit the number of hands the question paper passes through.
The optional questions in NEET UG 2025 Section B have been eliminated by NTA. The NEET UG exam will now follow the pre-COVID format, and candidates taking it in 2025 won’t have access to the optional questions or extra time that were added during COVID. The optional section was introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate the challenges posed during Covid pandemic and has been in practice till 2024.
There will now be 180 required questions in the NEET UG 2025 paper: 90 questions in biology and 45 questions in chemistry and physics.
The NEET UG 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages – Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
