The Odisha government plans to distribute new ration cards to beneficiaries starting next month, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra stated on Wednesday.
The government will begin issuing new ration cards after reviewing more than 10 lakh applications, according to the Minister.
To effectively identify qualified beneficiaries, authorities have concentrated on undertaking e-KYC verification of applicants.
Previously, the government declared that ineligible individuals would be removed from the list of ration card holders in accordance with the Food Security Act in order to maintain program integrity.
To facilitate this process, the government has established 12 inclusion criteria for eligible families and ten exclusion criteria for those that do not qualify.
Officials have been instructed to closely adhere to these criteria in order to ensure that only deserving families obtain the new ration cards.
