People in numerous regions of the state awoke to a cover of dense fog on Monday, accompanied by cold weather. Visibility in numerous regions was decreased to 50 meters, interrupting vehicular traffic and daily life.
According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar, as severe fog covered Phulbani, Dhenkanal, and Angul districts, visibility in several parts of the twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was limited to 50 to 200 meters.
Temperatures also remained much below normal, with Bhubaneswar recording a minimum of 14.5°C and Cuttack at 14°C.
On Sunday, G Udayagiri remained the coldest site in Odisha for the fourth day in a row, with a temperature of 5°C, up from 4.6°C the day before.
Meanwhile, the meteorological office predicts that the minimum temperature will rise steadily by 2°C-3°C beginning Monday night. It stated that the weather will be dry for the next three days, though moderate to severe fog is expected in Sundargarh, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, and Keonjhar districts.
