Today on 28th January, Nitish Kumar, the president of Janata Dal (United), swore in for the ninth time ever as the chief minister of Bihar, forming a new government with the BJP, whom he had left less than 18 months earlier. Kumar has also been sworn in as the Chief Minister three times since the 2020 assembly elections.
JP Nadda, the national president of the BJP, was also present at the new government’s oath ceremony at Patna’s Raj Bhavan.
Along with Nitish Kumar, BJP’s Samrat Choudhury, Vijay Sinha took oath on Sunday. HAM will also be a part of the new government. Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) president Dr Santosh Kumar Suman took oath on Sunday. Nitish Kumar said Samrat Chaudhury, Vijay Kumar Sinha will be deputy CMs.
Earlier in the day, JD(U) chairman Kumar announced his party’s departure from the 28-party Opposition’s I.N.D.I.A bloc and submitted his resignation to Governor Rajendra Arlekar. Following his resignation, Kumar spoke with media and stated that since things were not going well in the mahagathbandhan in the state, he submitted his resignation to the Governor.
At the state BJP office, party MLAs unanimously accepted a proposal “to support the JD(U) and party leaders Samrat Choudhary and former Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha, who were named as leader and deputy leader, respectively, of the legislature party, accompanied Kumar to Raj Bhavan to stake claim.
While JD(U) president Nitish Kumar was called an opportunist by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Jharkhand chapter, Union Minister and BJP MP Giriraj Singh praised him for the action because he was concerned that a jungle raj would be developed in Bihar.
Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister in the previous government, is the son of RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad. His elder sister Rohini Acharya, who is based in Singapore, made fun of the JD(U) president in a series of posts on X, but she did not mention him by name. Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi’s older brother, was a cabinet minister as well.
Tejashwi Yadav, on the other hand, said, JDU as a party would end in 2024.
Even with Awadh Bihari Chaudhary, the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly, and the majority of 79 MLAs, the RJD did not appear eager to make a claim.
