During his visit to Beijing on Monday, National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met with Wang Yi, a member of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC) Political Bureau and China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. Doval is in China to attend the 20th Meeting of SCO Security Council Secretaries.
During their meetings, the two leaders assessed recent advances in India-China relations and emphasized the significance of increasing comprehensive bilateral interaction. According to an official announcement, all sides agreed that deepening cooperation and strengthening people-to-people connections are essential for long-term peace and stability.
Focus on terror, bilateral engagement
NSA Doval emphasized India’s unwavering commitment to combating terrorism in all of its forms and manifestations, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts for regional security. The debate also covered a wide variety of bilateral, regional, and global matters of mutual concern, reflecting the complex and dynamic character of India-China relations. Meanwhile, Doval indicated his desire to invite Wang Yi in India for the 24th session of the Special Representative (SR) Talks on a mutually agreeable date.
20th Meeting of SCO
The 20th Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Security Council Secretaries began on Monday in Beijing, bringing together top security officials from member states to discuss critical regional and global security problems. The discussion centered on increasing collaboration among SCO states in combating terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking, as well as strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and information-sharing systems.
