NTA NCET 2024: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released online applications for the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) 2024. Interested candidates can apply for the exam at the official website — nta.ac.in or ncet.samarth.ac.in.
Candidates have time till April 30 (11:50 pm) to fill the online application form. Applicants will be given time from May 2 to 4 to make corrections in their online application form. The final week of May will see the publication of the advanced city intimation slip, and the admit cards will be distributed three days prior to the exam date.
The official exam schedule states that the NCET 2024 will take place on Wednesday, June 12. NTA will make an announcement later on the release dates for the answer key and result.
What is NCET 2024?
NCET 2024 is an entrance exam conducted for admission to four year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central/ State University/ institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and government colleges for the academic session 2024-25. ITEP is a dual major programme, in which the first major is in Education with School Specific Stage specialisation and the second major is in an opted discipline.
NTA has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting NCET, which will be conducted in 178 cities and 13 mediums across India in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
Exam scheme
NCET 2024 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.
In total, there will be 160 questions to be attempted out of 181 questions. All questions will be Objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
here will be a choice of three questions in each subject (language/Domain-specific subject/Teaching Aptitude/General Test). The exam may be conducted on multiple days in two shifts, depending on the number of candidates and subject choices.
There are 38 different languages. Any two languages need to be chosen — Language 1 and Language 2. Each language paper will have 23 questions out of which 20 questions need to be attempted.
Section 2 is domain specific subjects and 26 domain-specific subjects are being offered under this section. A candidate may choose any three subjects as desired by the applicable university. Of these 26, candidates have to choose three domain. Each domain-specific subject will have 28 questions out of which 25 questions need to be attempted.
The third section (General test) is mandatory, in which 25 questions need to be attempted out of 28. Section 4 (Teaching Aptitude) is also mandatory, and candidates need to attempt 20 out of 23 questions have to be attempted.
