The Odisha State Cabinet has approved the implementation of the state scheme ‘MAMATA’ in conjunction with the national government’s ‘Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana’ (PMMVY) from April 1, 2025, under the co-branding ‘MAMATA-PMMVY’.
The initiative provides participants with Rs 12,000 for the birth of a girl child and Rs 10,000 for the birth of a boy child. Women from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTG) would receive Rs 12,000 for a girl child and Rs 10,000 for a boy child for all live births.
The initiative also raises the incentive amounts for Anganwadi workers and helpers to Rs 250 and Rs 150, respectively. The MAMATA-PMMVY plan will follow the same qualifying criteria as the PMMVY scheme. The state government expects to spend around Rs 2,670 crores on the scheme over the next five years.
