The Odisha Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session is set to begin on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with a House meeting.
On the first day, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal will address the House. On February 24, Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will present the Annual Budget for 2023-24 in the House.
This Budget Session is expected to be tumultuous, as the Opposition BJP and Congress have devised strategies to take on the BJD government, including the alleged failure of the Crime Branch to uncover the motive behind Health Minister Naba Das’ murder.
On the other hand, the ruling party met with its legislators to plan its strategy for the Budget Session. It will raise concerns about how the Union government is allegedly depriving the state of its dues, such as rice for free distribution to the poor.
Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha convened an all-party meeting on Monday to seek members’ cooperation in order for the House to function smoothly.
The Budget Session will be held in two parts, the first from February 21 to March 1 and the second from March 10 to April 6.
