There are up to 37 candidates contesting for four Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, which will be decided on May 13. There are 30 men and seven women among the 37 candidates.
According to the state Election Commission, the candidates’ nomination papers were reviewed on April 26th, and Monday was the deadline for withdrawal of candidacy.
The nomination papers of 38 candidates were judged to be genuine during the scrutiny, and one contender in Koraput withdrew his nomination on Monday.
Of the 37 candidates, 11 contest for the Kalahandi seat, four for Nabarangpur, 11 for Berhampur, and 11 for Koraput.
Along with the four Lok Sabha seats, 28 Assembly divisions will also vote on May 13.
Elections for the remaining 17 Parliamentary seats in Odisha will take place on May 20, May 25, and June 1.
