Barsha Singh Bariha has been named the BJD candidate for Padampur in the 2022 elections. She is the deceased MLA Bijay Singh Bariha’s daughter.
According to reports, the polling period in Padampur has been shortened due to the winter season and an alleged Maoist threat. The voting will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. on December 5.
The decision was made today during an all-party meeting. The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the Padampur by-elections in Odisha on November 5.
The by-election notification was published in the Gazette on November 10, and the deadline for nominations is November 17.
The nominations will be scrutinized on November 18, with the deadline for withdrawal of candidatures set for November 21.
According to the notification, voting will take place on December 5 and the results will be announced on December 8.
