A new low-pressure system is predicted to emerge over the southern Bay of Bengal around October 24-25, adding to the current dynamic weather trend.
The India Meteorological Department predicts that the low-pressure region over the southwest Bay would move west-northwestward and deepen into a depression along the north Tamil Nadu-south Andhra coast in the next 24 hours. It will move west-northwest toward north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south Andhra Pradesh.
The regional weather center has issued alerts for thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over Odisha’s coast and southern regions until October 25.
According to the IMD estimate, a second low-pressure area could form around October 26-27, followed by a third around October 29-30. While the first system may have had little impact, meteorologists warn that the second might be more catastrophic.
Some foreign weather services forecast cyclones for the second and third low-pressure systems. A few models are claimed to have projected oceanic storms for the probable low, however the IMD has not confirmed this.
