At Cabinet meeting, the Odisha government approved 11 key proposals.
Among the approvals is an increase in grant-in-aid to eligible employees of aided non-government colleges in the state, which includes former junior colleges. This will benefit approximately 15,711 teachers and employees. The following are the other 11 key proposals that received Cabinet approval:
1.) Amending the Odisha Employment Service Class-II Rules, 1990, in order to fill vacant positions of employment officer in the state’s employment exchanges.
2.) Adoption of the Odisha Data Entry Operators (Commercial Tax and Goods and Services Tax Organization) Service Conditions Rules, 2023, in accordance with a High Court order issued in 2020, which states that the service of DEOs will continue to be administered by the Commissionerate of CT and GST (Odisha), Cuttack. The Commissioner of CT and GST Odisha will serve as the disciplinary authority, and all DEOs will be transferred or posted with his prior approval.
3.)The Odisha Food Testing Laboratory Cadre (Methods of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Amendment Rules, 2022 are being framed in order to regulate the method of recruitment of service of the person appointed to the various posts of the State Food Testing Laboratory, Bhubaneswar. The Odisha Staff Selection Commission will conduct recruitment for Junior Laboratory Assistant positions in accordance with Government rules and guidelines.
4.)Approval of a proposal to allot 2 acres of land to Bagchi-Sri Shankara Cancer Care Centre and Research Institute (BSSCCRI) for the construction of a rest house for cancer patients. This will allow cancer patients to stay at a lower cost for a longer period of time during their treatment.The land will be free of premium and at Chandihata under Jatani Tehsil in Khurda district.
5.) Execution of two mega piped water supply projects funded by JJM to provide safe drinking water in Jajpur. This is expected to benefit approximately 2,50,797 people spread across 250 villages in two blocks of the district. The government has approved a tender of Rs 254.66 crore for the work’s completion within two years.
6.) Execution of three mega piped water supply projects in the Nayagarh district with JJM funding at a cost of Rs 393.93 crore.
7.) Execution of four mega piped water supply projects in Malkangiri district with JJM funding totaling Rs 639.26 crore.
8.)2007 Amendment to the Orissa Superior Judicial Service and Orissa Judicial Service Rules.
9.) Approval of the proposed amendment to the State list of SEBCs by the Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes by inserting subsection 3 under section 9, which allows the State government to include such backward classes if they are specified in the State’s central list of OBCs.
10.)Amendment of five cadre rules of the newly formed Directorate of Mines and Geology’s Mineral Administration Wing, Geological Survey and Exploration Wing, and Chemical Analysis Wing. These will improve administrative efficiency and strengthen the Directorate’s technical human resources.
11.) Under the State Plan, construction of an H.L. bridge over the Subarnarekha bridge at Gobarghata on the Jaleswar old NH bypass road to DP Pur Primary School Chhak in the Balasore district.
