Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sanctioned 429 road projects totaling Rs 39.25 crore for residential colonies in the Bhubaneswar, Balianta, and Jatni blocks on Wednesday.
During his visit to Khurda district on August 23, residents of the affected districts met with 5T Secretary VK Pandian and brought his attention to the road and electrical problems suffered by the residents of the colonies, as well as their grievances to be resolved. The issue was reported to the Chief Minister by the 5T Secretary, and a professional team was constituted on Patnaik’s directions and dispatched to all affected locations for investigation. The technical team identified 429 roads covering an area of more than 82 kilometers in those locations and submitted a report for improvement and electricity.
Following receipt of the report, the 5T Secretary met with inhabitants of the individual residential colonies on September 27 to explore ways to enhance those places. As a result, the Chief Minister has given his approval for the construction of these 429 road projects.
Smart City Bhubaneswar has grown quickly in recent years, spreading to the Jatni and Balianta districts. In those places, many residential colonies have sprouted up. Internal roadways and electrification in residential colonies had long been a desire.
It is worth mentioning that 140 of the 429 road projects are in the Bhubaneswar block, 246 in the Jatni block, and 43 in the Balianta block. These areas will have road building, upgrading, and electrification. More than three lakh people will be benefited through these projects. The Chief Minister has directed the officials to complete the projects within three months.
