The students of these junior classes are being promoted to their higher class without the conduction of exams as the schools have remained close for them for one whole yr now due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the nation.

Though the announcement has been made regarding the cancellation of exams for students of classes 1 to 8 in Odisha, the education minister has mentioned {that a} final decision in this regard will be taken by the state government soon.

Due to the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, the government of Odisha has decided not to reopen the schools for students of classes 1 to 8 and continue the conduction of online classes for them. Physical classes for these students will most likely start in the new academic session.

New academic session delayed

In view of the academic delay caused by Covid-19 across the country, the new academic session for the year 2021-22 in Odisha schools will not begin from April this year, as informed by the state education minister SR Dash.

Thus, the conduction of final exams for senior classes has been delayed. This year, the board exams in Odisha for students of classes 10 and 12 will be carried out in May. The date sheet for the same has been released by the Board of Secondary Education, Odisha.

The dates of the Odisha board exams were announced soon after the Central Board of Secondary Education decided to conduct the board exams in May for classes 10 and 12. The new educational session in Odisha will most probably start in June this year.

Offline classes are being carried out for students who’re set to appear for the board exams in Odisha this year with several safety protocols. The students attend classes by following strict social distancing norms and wearing a facemask always.
