In Odisha, the annual High School Certificate (HSC), Madhayama, and State Open School Certificate (SOSC) examinations will begin tomorrow, March 10 and run through March 20. In total, 5,41,247 students will take the exams at 3,218 locations across the state.
In a press conference here on Thursday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Das stated that question papers for the HSC examinations have been stored at 316 nodal centers and will be delivered to the centers every morning under tight security.
Das said that special measures have been taken to check malpractices during the exams this year. “Keeping in view the heat wave, all the exams will be conducted from 8 to 10 am, while the examinees have been directed to reach their respective centres by 7.00 am,” he added.
To combat malpractice, 57 central squads have been formed, and CCTV cameras have been installed in all exam centers.
Meanwhile, Ramashis Hazra, president of the Orissa Board of Secondary Education (BSE), said dispatch teams have been formed to collect question papers from nodal centers escorted by police teams. “A district administration vehicle will also accompany the team, per the Chief Secretary’s instructions,” Hazra added.
The question papers will arrive at the exam centers between 6 and 7 a.m. Security arrangements have also been made for the Madhayama and SOSC exams, which will be held concurrently.
Students are only allowed to bring admit cards, black and blue pens, pencils, and geometry boxes. All cell phones carried by the students will be kept under lock and key during the exam period, said Hazra.
This time, 74 squads, including 36 formed by the BSE, will oversee the smooth conduct of the matriculation examination.
