Naveen Patnaik, the current Chief Minister of Odisha has surpassed the late Jyoti Basu, the former Chief Minister of West Bengal, for the second-longest term in India. Naveen was chosen Chief Minister of Odisha on March 5, 2000, and he still holds that position now.
He has now served as the state’s chief minister for 23 years and 138 days, matching the late Jyoti Basu’s tenure as West Bengal’s chief minister.
Naveen Patnaik first entered politics in 1997. He was appointed Chief Minister of Odisha in the year 2000, and he has managed the state without interruption since then. Sikkim’s Pawan Kumar Chamling has been the chief minister for 24 years and 166 days in office, Sikkim’s Pawan Kumar Chamling is the chief minister with the longest tenure.
During his more than 23 years in service, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has implemented revolutionary reforms in the state’s economic, educational, health, and food security areas.
