Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana’ on Thursday to meet the nutritional needs of the state’s mothers, teenage females, and children. In addition, the Chief Minister introduced the ‘Pada Pushti Yojana’.
This scheme includes provisions for nutritional supplements for all adolescent girls aged 15 to 19, as well as supplemental dry food for pregnant women and expectant mothers. There is also provision for providing entire food to extremely malnourished children, as well as vitamin-added ‘chhatua’ (roasted gram flour) and eggs to moderately malnourished and severely underweight youngsters.
The ‘Pada Pushti Yojana’ will provide high-quality cooked food to children in rural and tribal areas in their enclaves and villages.
Speaking at a function organised at the Convention Centre in Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister said that nutrition has a deep relationship with prosperity. Therefore, through improved nutrition we can fulfill our development target, the CM added.
“It is the mother who can provide proper nutrition to the family. Therefore, the success of this programme depends on mothers. Our Anganwadi workers and Mission Shakti members also have a great responsibility for the success of this programme,” the CM stated.
“Odisha is the first state in the country to design a nutrition budget from 2020-21. Mamata Yojana is taking proper care of the health of pregnant women and newborns in the state. Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana will further strengthen this effort”, he added.
According to the Chief Minister, this initiative will enable every woman and child in the state to become healthy. This will lead to wealth and success in reaching our objectives, he added.
The Chief Minister further stated that he is optimistic that the Women and Child Development Department will try to ensure the scheme’s success by integrating everyone at the grassroots level and utilizing the five parts of 5T. The combined efforts of all of us to improve people’s health and nutrition will boost overall development, he continued.
Women and Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram, who joined the initiative, stated, “Mukhyamantri Sampoorna Pushti Yojana is our mission.” This plan will benefit the people of Odisha’s life and future.”
VK Pandian, Secretary to the Chief Minister (5T), and other top executives attended this program.
