On Monday, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sanctioned Madhu Babu Pension benefits for an additional 4.13 applicants, which might offer a lot of joy to social security pension applicants.
Taking into account the grievances raised during the Chief Minister’s visit to areas around the state, as well as feedback from Mo Sarkar, the Chief Minister has decided to expand the scheme to include more individuals.
As directed by the Chief Minister, Secretary to the Chief Minister (5T) VK Pandian and other top officers of the CMO are visiting districts to examine development projects and listen to people’s problems at the grassroots level. This CMO outreach has aided in the resolution of issues at a much faster rate.
With this, the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana’s aim has been raised to 32.75 lakh. Previously, the scheme provided benefits to 28.61 lakh people.
On the 15th of August, 2023, all newly sanctioned beneficiaries will get their first pension sum, i.e. JANASEVA DIWAS, at the Gram Panchayat headquarters or Ward Offices in the presence of elected representatives.
We have advised all Collectors to ensure the smooth distribution of pensions to camp recipients.
Under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana (MBPY), the government of Odisha pays social security pension to 28.61 lakh (28,61,195) beneficiaries at Rs. 500/-, Rs. 700/-, and Rs. 900/- per month.
Beneficiaries encompass a diverse range, including elderly people, widows, disabled individuals, unmarried women, and cured leprosy patients. Furthermore, the scheme also covers AIDS patients identified by OSACS, divorcees, destitute, transgender people, and orphan children of COVID-affected families. This comprehensive scheme extends its support to a variety of vulnerable populations, fostering inclusivity and societal well-being.
Beneficiaries in MBPY between the ages of 0 and 79 years receive a pension of Rs 500 per month, while beneficiaries aged 80 and above receive a pension of Rs 700 per month.
Similarly, beneficiaries with 40-59% disability earn Rs 500 per month, beneficiaries with 60% and above impairment receive Rs 700 per month, and beneficiaries with 60% and above disability and aged 80 years and above receive Rs 900 per month under this scheme.
The inclusion of these 4 lakh 13 thousand new beneficiaries would assist enhance the state’s social security system.
