On Monday, Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, requested that state minister for revenue and disaster management Sudam Marndi visit the scene of the rail accident in the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh to assist with rescue efforts.
Remarkably, on Sunday evening, the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train collided with a Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger from the back, resulting in 13 fatalities and multiple injuries.
“The Chief Minister today directed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Sudam Marandi to visit yesterday’s train accident site in Andhra Pradesh and also meet the injured at the hospital. Additional Special Relief Commissioner is also accompanying the minister,” a press release issued by the CMO read.
Meanwhile, the state Fire and Emergency Service has dispatched a team and materials to the accident site under the leadership of AFO Jeypore. The team has been equipped with the plasma cutter, combo tools, a rescue line, IT lights, and others.
