For the third day, a high-level delegation led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik continued its deep foray into hard selling Odisha to a plethora of Business Delegations in Tokyo – Japan.
Following up on the early gains made in Tokyo, the delegation continued with its series of one-on-one meetings, according to an official press release.
The delegation, which included the Minister of Industries, MSME, and Energy, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Odisha, the Principal Secretary, Industries Department, the Principal Secretary, E&IT Department, the Secretary to the CM, the Secretary, Sports and Youth Services, and the Managing Director, IPICOL, met today with industry leaders in IT & ITES, skilling, logistics, and shipping lines. The marquee names included Fuji Soft, NYK Lines, NITKAL and Sumitomo Group.
In light of the state’s enormous potential in the field of IT and ITeS, the Fuji Soft Group has proposed establishing a “Centre of Excellence” (CoE) in Bhubaneswar, the state capital.
Bhubaneswar has been a happy hunting ground for all the marquee labels that are already present in the state, thanks to a steady supply of software engineers and skilled workforce in the aforementioned sector.
Fuji Soft’s proposal to open the proposed CoE will provide the needed impetus to the already burgeoning field.
Keeping the state’s skill development initiatives in mind, NITKAL (Nihon-UTKAL) has partnered with OUTR (Odisha University of Technology & Research) to establish a dedicated skill development center in the state to cater to the huge demand for a trained workforce in Japan.
NITKAL (Nihon-UTKAL) is also in talks with IIIT about establishing a Japan-centric center for skill development in the relevant field.
Logistics and storage for the new dawn sector of Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia continue to gain traction.
In keeping with these modern initiatives, two industry leaders met with the high-level delegation led by the Chief Minister.
First and foremost, the block NYK Lines (Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha) expressed keen interest in establishing dedicated shipping lines, beginning with the port-of-call Paradeep/Gopalpur/Dhamra, to transport Green Ammonia to countries committed to the greening of the said sector, particularly South East Asia all the way up to Japan. The high-level official briefed delegation about the existing port infrastructure and the future development prospects.
Sumitomo Corporation, a Fortune 500 global corporation, met with the delegation and expressed interest in developing tankage and storage facilities for the green hydrogen and green ammonia sectors.
They are focusing on Gopalpur, which has a SEZ right next door and is an ideal location for the project.
The Chief Minister directed all officials to develop a roadmap for all of these investments in the sunrise sector, as well as timelines for all proposals received.
The Chief Minister’s visit to Japan reinforces the state government’s commitment to promoting Odisha as a favorable investment destination and strengthening emerging economic and cultural ties with Japan.
The group would travel to Kyoto today to continue the initiatives and establish new pillars in the fields of sports and tourism.
