A one-day district-level workshop on the Lakhpati Didi Initiative was held across Odisha today under the supervision of Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida. The session intended to increase livelihood activities through convergence and to educate stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities.
The event gathered 4,000 people, including steering committee members, community support personnel, successful Lakhpati Didis, community influencers, and officials from numerous line departments.
In her video message, Deputy CM Parida greeted the participants and highlighted the state government’s efforts to strengthen the Lakhpati Didi Initiative. She announced the launch of the “Lakhpati Didi Sahayika Yojana,” under which Community Support Staff (CSS) will play a pivotal role in creating more Lakhpati Didis. Emphasizing the importance of CSS in driving the initiative at the household level, Parida stressed the need for capacity building and enhanced understanding to amplify the program’s impact.
To far, more than 8 lakh Lakhpati Didis have been established in Odisha, with 1.66 lakh coming from aspirational and tribal districts. To meet the 2024-25 target, onsite training for Potential Lakhpati Didis (PLDs) and the development of Business Development Plans (BDPs) are underway throughout the state. So far, 16.44 lakh PLDs have been trained, while 11 lakh BDPs have been prepared.
State and district steering committees have been constituted to ensure the initiative’s efficient execution. In addition, more than 22,000 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) have been trained to assist CSS in mobilizing efforts to create additional Lakhpati Didis.
