The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted 200 MBBS seats at two new government medical institutions in Odisha.
The Government Medical College in Phulbani and the Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Government Medical College in Talcher have both received approval for 100 seats. Academic sessions at both universities will begin in the 2025-26 academic year.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed the decision, describing it as a significant milestone in the state’s health education sector. He remarked that the establishment of 200 MBBS seats will allow more Odia students to pursue medical education beginning this year.
The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment on developing healthcare infrastructure, saying that the clearance recognizes the state’s efforts to improve healthcare services and medical education.
