In view of the heat wave, the State government on Saturday declared that all classes, from I to XII, will begin in the morning from 2nd April.
Regarding the morning classes, the Department of Schools and Mass Education has released an advice. Morning sessions will run from 7 a.m. to 11.30 a.m.
Also, the schools are required to make sure that the students have drinking water.
The State was under a heat wave, with temperatures reaching above 40 degrees Celsius in some locations with rising trends at many stations.
Malkangiri was the hottest today, with a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius. reached 40 degrees Celsius in three locations today, with Titlagarh and Boudh both simmering at 40.5 degrees Celsius. Bolangir followed with a temperature of 40.2 C, although Nayagarh witnessed the heat wave at 40 degrees C.
The IMD also forecasted heat waves to persist in the coming days.
The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), in a letter to the Collectors, asked to take precautionary measures to tackle the heat wave conditions.
