The Mohan Majhi government in Odisha on Tuesday revised the color and style of school uniforms for Class IX and X students in public and government-aided schools under the Mukhyamantri Chhatra Chhatri Paridhan Yojana.
The previous BJD regime, led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, introduced green uniforms in 2023, which will now be light brown and maroon. The boys will wear checkered light brown shirts and maroon pants, while the girls will wear a checkered kurta, maroon jacket, and salwar.
In a letter to Director, Secondary Education, the School and Mass Education Department in informed that the government has approved the final design and colour of the uniforms. “The new design may be implemented in schools where uniforms in the old design have not been stitched or distributed,” the letter read.
Earlier, School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond stated that the state government may return the former school uniform color to blue and white.
