A high-level workshop on the execution of Odisha Vision 2036 and 2047 was held today at Kharavel Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, with the subject “Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat.”
Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Commerce, Transport, and Housing and Urban Development Departments, presided over the session. McKinsey and Company, the Vision Document’s strategic knowledge partner, facilitated the session.
The event sought to integrate Odisha’s long-term development program with India’s ambition of becoming a developed country by 2047. The key aims mentioned were to achieve a GSDP of USD 1.5 trillion by 2047, contribute 5% to the national GDP, and create over 1 crore nonfarm jobs.
The Vision 2036 & 2047 is built around six major themes: People First, Rural Empowerment, Prosperity for All, Legacy with Pride, Tech-led Growth, and People-Centric Governance. A notable feature was the presentation of the “36 for 36” flagship projects, which aim to accelerate transformation in crucial sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, skilling, agriculture, and climate resilience.

During the event, attendees examined implementation models, including a comprehensive roadmap for Sambalpur Municipal Corporation that depicted ground-level execution of the vision. Padhee emphasized the necessity of increasing institutional capacity, implementing data-driven governance, and encouraging departmental convergence to achieve timely and measurable results.
The session also covered crucial mechanisms like real-time dashboards, embedded Project Monitoring Units, and a Whole-of-Government approach to ensuring smooth execution.
Both departments have been assigned particular Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and responsibilities throughout developmental efforts in order to achieve the Viksit Odisha vision.
Senior officials from the Commerce and Transport, as well as the Housing and Urban Development Departments, attended the event and shared thoughts on infrastructure development, urban transformation, and inter-departmental collaboration for a more developed and inclusive Odisha.
