The State government has declared July 8 as a holiday for banks, banking institutions, all government offices and revenue and Magisterial courts on account of Rath Yatra.
Regarding this, separate notifications have been issued by the departments of revenue and disaster management.
“On the occasion of Rath Yatra, the Government of Odisha have been pleased to declare that all State Government Offices, as well as Revenue and Magisterial Courts (Executive) shall remain closed on 08.07.2024 (Monday) i.e. the day following the Rath Yatra,” the notification read.
Similarly, all the banks and banking institutions will also remain closed on July 8 on the account of Rath Yatra.
A two-day holiday for the forthcoming Rath Yatra on July 7 and 8 was also announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday.
This year, on July 7 and 8, the Rath Yatra will be observed for two days. This is a rare occurrence that was last observed in 1971.
