The Odisha government declared on Wednesday that all schools in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) will be closed on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Durga Prasad Mahapatra, Additional Secretary of the School and Mass Education Department, issued the direction, urging all educational institutions to take note and make the necessary measures.
The vacation was announced in advance of a state-level ceremony in Bhubaneswar to honor the one-year anniversary of the BJP government in Odisha.
The occasion will be graced by the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In view of this, a large gathering is expected, which may lead to potential traffic disruptions in the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Municipal Corporation areas on the day of the event.
“Therefore, the Odisha Government has announced a holiday on Friday (20.06.2025), for all government, government-aided, and private schools in the Bhubaneswar and Cuttack Municipal Corporation areas under the Department of Schools and Public Education,” the notice stated.
