Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved the increase in the stipend amount for nursing, pharmacy, and allied medical students, taking into consideration their request and the value of the services they provide.
After this enhancement, these students will receive the following amount as stipends per month:
- Pharma – Rs 500
- ANM – Rs 2,000
- Sc (N) – Rs 5,000 for internship
- Phil in Clinical Psychology – Rs.10,000
- Phil in Psychatric Social Work- Rs.10,000
Earlier, the stipend amount for these students was Rs 250 stipend per month for D.Pharma, Rs 1,000 per month for ANM, Rs 2,500 for B.Sc(N) internship per month, Rs 7,000 for M. Phil in Clinical Psychology and Rs 7,000 for M. Phil in Psychiatric Social Work.
It is anticipated by the Chief Minister that this improvement will motivate students to provide greater services to the public. He believed that this will further boost Odisha’s health services.
The students asked 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian to increase their stipend during their recent visit to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
It should be noted that the Health & FW Department of the Government of Odisha offers a variety of degree and diploma programs in government institutions, including the B.Sc. in Nursing, the Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) course, the Diploma in Pharmacy, the M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology, and the MPhil. in Psychiatric Social Work.
For the duration of their studies, students enrolled in these courses receive stipends from the government, which they use to offer clinical services at healthcare institutions.
