Odisha school students will be issued new orange ID cards. The Education Department announced this in a letter today. This will apply to the 2025-26 academic year, when orange-colored ID cards for pupils in grades I through VIII will be distributed. The move is intended to improve security and identity within school facilities.
The Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA) sent a letter to all DEOs on this.
According to a departmental letter, the new ID cards will have the following student information: name, class, date of birth, roll number, and phone number. The cards will also include the signatures of the headmaster and teacher, providing an additional layer of identification.
The decision to make ID cards mandatory stems from incidents in which outsiders enter school campuses unobserved. Students will be compelled to wear their ID cards around their necks while at school.
This change is part of a larger initiative to redesign school uniforms and branding. The state government has also launched a new slogan, “Vidyavant Vidyarthi, Bikashit Odisha,” and altered the logo on house uniforms and caps.
The Education Department has conveyed these modifications to all District Education Officers, assuring consistent implementation throughout the state. The new ID cards and improved branding aim to instill a feeling of identification and unity in pupils while also improving school security.
