The state’s Higher Education Department has decided to allow the establishment of new degree or professional colleges. The decision was made at a meeting of the High-Power Committee (HPC) on November 9, 2022.
The HPC decided in 2019 not to grant permission for the establishment of new degree or professional colleges for a period of five years beginning with the academic session 2020-21, with the exception of nationally and internationally acclaimed educational institutions.
The Committee recently decided to withdraw the preceding decision in light of the educational needs and aspirations of the affected community.
It has also been decided to grant permission for an increase in seats/the opening of new subjects/streams/courses (including PG courses), regardless of NAAC CGPA/NIRF ranking/NBA accreditation for the academic session 2022-23.
