According to a senior official, more than 6.31 lakh families in Odisha received high-quality cashless treatment through the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) this year, with the State government spending approximately Rs 1,389 crore for the purpose.

According to the source, this was discovered during a recent performance review meeting.

“A review showed that around 6.31 lakh persons from the poor families having either BSKY smart card or PDS card were provided high quality clinical treatment free of cost in different speciality hospitals coming under private sector during the current calendar year up to 25 December. State Govt has paid around Rs 1,389 crore to the empanelled private sector hospitals towards cost of their treatment,” Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Secretary Shalini Pandit expressed.

“These patients were from all 30 districts of Odisha. Cent percent of the patients coming to hospitals with BSKY eligibility were counseled through telephonic call from 104. The patients were also provided handholding support by the Swasthya Mitras engaged by the State in these hospitals. The patients were treated under a total number of 2,056 clinical packages provided through BSKY. The problems and grievances relating use of cards, cashless treatment etc were immediately attended to and resolved in a time bound manner keeping in view emergency requirement of the patients,” Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of State Health Assurance Society (SHAS) Dr Brundha D appraised.

Secretary Pandit has directed that IEC and awareness building activities on BSKY be intensified in remote rural areas of Gajapati, Kandhamal, Subarnapur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts to ensure that people receive the necessary information and assistance for high quality clinical care.

Discussions at the meeting revealed that patients or their attendants could pre-register for treatment at any of the empanelled hospitals of their choice by calling the toll-free number 104. They could get their BSKY card-related issues resolved by dialing 155369.

People could also communicate their needs and grievances by dialing 14545, following @bskyodisha on Twitter, and liking bskyodisha on Facebook. Secretary Pandit has directed that all of the facilities provided by BSKY be widely publicized. Coordinators and Swasthya Mitras have been asked to handhold the people with missionary spirit.
