In a festive gesture ahead of Durga Puja, the Odisha government has declared that all state government employees will receive their September salaries early.
According to an official press statement, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has asked the Finance Department to guarantee that salaries are issued on September 26, rather than the customary end-of-month timetable.
The decision is made in light of the forthcoming Durga Puja vacations, which would see government offices across the state shuttered from September 27.
“Durga Puja witnesses a surge in spending as people prepare for the festival. Additionally, this year, a national savings festival is being observed following the implementation of the GST 2.0 reforms,” the release stated.
Taking these things into account, the state government has chosen early disbursement to facilitate holiday shopping and financial preparation for employees.
