The ongoing LAccMI (Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative) bus services that connect panchayats to block headquarters will now go under a new the name, according to the newly established Odisha government. According to Minister of Mines, Steel, and Transportation Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, the reasonably priced bus services will soon operate under the name “Mukhyamantri Bus Seva.”
“There is no smell of party politics in any of our scheme. No scheme will be purpose-driven. All the schemes will be meant for the welfare of people only. We have promised to provide seamless bus services to the people. So, we have decided to rename it as ‘Mukhyamantri Bus Seva’. People will be happy to use it in the name of Chief Minister,” Jena said.
He continued, “It is with great pleasure that bus services will commence on the occasion of Rath Yatra from all blocks throughout the State.”
The minister continued, saying that the bus fare would not change.
The LAccMI program was started by the previous BJD government with the intention of giving citizens easy access to public transportation.
On October 12, 2023, former chief minister Naveen Patnaik announced the initiative.
