The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for several locations in 17 districts of Odisha for the next 24 hours on Sunday.
According to the IMD regional office, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Keonjhar and Dhenkanal districts from Sunday till Monday morning.
During the period, light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are expected in a few places across the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Rayagada, and Koraput, as well as one or two places across the rest of Odisha.
Between April 10 and 11, a thunderstorm and lightning warning has been issued for one or two locations in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri.
Meanwhile, the weather service has predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in one or two locations along the Odisha coast, including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts, over the next 72 hours.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorms are also possible in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts between April 11 and April 12.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) is unlikely to change significantly over the next 2-3 days, and a rise of 2°C-3°C thereafter is likely in a few places in Odisha.
