The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar issued a heat wave warning for Odisha from March to May on Thursday. The maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected to rise by 3°C to 5°C across the state during this period, according to the MeT office.
While day temperatures in March and May are expected to remain higher than normal, the IMD predicts that most places in Odisha will experience a harsh summer with temperatures expected to be at least 50% higher.
Daytime temperatures in Angul, Sonepur, Boudh, Titilagarh, Balangir, Sambalpur, Talcher, Chandbali, Malkangari, and Bhubaneswar may range from 38°C to 42°C. Throughout the summer, the IMD issued orange and red alerts for various districts.
Odihsa has been without rain for a long time, and there is no chance of rain in March, according to the IMD forecast on Thursday. As a result, summer will be even more unbearable.
The IMD also stated that due to the formation of a depression in the Bay of Bengal, day temperatures in various parts of the state will rise due to southerly winds from the Bay of Bengal.
