The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regional office in Bhubaneswar forecasted another western disturbance in the state beginning Wednesday. The western disturbance is expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to many parts of the state between Tuesday and April 1.
According to the MeT office, the effect of the western disturbance will be greatest in the northwestern part of India this time.
The western disturbance will bring new bouts of rain to several Odisha districts. Light to moderate rain with wind speeds of up to 40-50 kmph is expected in one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, and Ganjam.
On Tuesday, thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Puri, Khurdha, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, and Keonjhar districts.
Heavy rain is also forecast for Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara districts. Rainfall in these districts could range from 7 to 11 cm.
Rain and winds of 40 to 50 km/h are expected to hit Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, and Boudh districts, as well as Odisha’s six coastal districts.
The state has issued a yellow warning for lightning and rain in ten districts: Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Nyagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.
On March 30, the IMD predicts a thundershower with lightning in 13 districts of the state.
On Tuesday, the IMD predicts a partly cloudy sky with a chance of moderate rain/thunderstorm in Bhubaneswar. Bhubaneswar’s maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 36°C and 22°C, respectively.
