The emergence of a cyclonic storm in the northwest Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours is expected to increase the severity of monsoon rain in Odisha. The creation of a low-pressure and cyclonic storm is predicted to deliver significant rainfall to the state beginning Wednesday, according to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.
The IMD has issued a yellow rain warning for numerous districts in Odisha until Saturday. The weather service has issued a yellow warning for severe to very heavy rain in one or two locations in the districts of Nabarangapur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, and Bolangir on Tuesday.
Furthermore, heavy rain may fall in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Boudh, Sonepur, Angul, Deogarh, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Sundargarh districts in the next 24 hours.
While the state is likely to get considerable rainfall this week, the greatest downpour is expected on July 21. Rainfall in some regions may range from 7 cm to 20 cm.
This year, Odisha has had a rainfall deficit. This monsoon’s average rainfall is 20% less than the projected average rainfall.
On Monday, the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack received 3.4 mm and 2 mm of rain, respectively, resulting in high humidity and a rise in temperature.
