Odisha unveiled its first Automated Testing Station (ATS), which is entirely owned and controlled by the state, to improve the accuracy of motor vehicle fitness checks.
This system, developed by the Cuttack RTO, uses superior technical capabilities to conduct automatic fitness testing.
According to the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, the ATS system has been introduced to provide efficient and transparent fitness testing. The state administration intends to open 21 more such ATS centers soon. Vehicle fitness is critical to road safety, and regulatory criteria decide whether a vehicle is safe to drive on public roads.
Previously, fitness certification and automobile registration renewal relied on manual exams. However, to make the testing procedure more transparent and unbiased, the government has implemented automated fitness evaluation. This will eliminate unsafe automobiles from the road, dramatically reducing the number of accidents.
