The India Meteorological Department (IMD) regional center here projected thunderstorms and lightning in a few spots throughout 18 Odisha districts during the next 24 hours as a result of the prevailing monsoon trough and a well-defined low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal. At the same time, the IMD issued yellow warnings for rain and thundershowers in many Odisha districts for the next five days on Sunday.
According to the weather service’s midday bulletin, a “low-pressure area over the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Jaisalmer, the center of low southeast Rajasthan and adjoining west Madhya Pradesh, Sagar, Daltonganj, Jamshedpur, Digha and thence east-southeastwards to the northeast Bay of Bengal.”
It has predicted light to moderate rain or thundershower at many places over the districts of north Odisha and south coastal Odisha and at a few places over the remaining districts of Odisha.
