The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast continuing rains with thunderstorms and gusty winds in Odisha until July 15, attributing the wet spell to an active monsoon system and cyclonic circulations over eastern India.
The IMD reported in its midday meteorological advisory on Thursday that the low-pressure area over the region has dissipated, giving way to cyclonic circulation over south Jharkhand and its surroundings. This system, together with two monsoon troughs—one running from Suratgarh to the northeast Bay of Bengal and the other from the **northeast Arabian Sea to the cyclonic circulation—is causing widespread rainfall across the state.
