Bhubaneswar: The resurgence of coronavirus infections in a number of states like Maharashtra has sounded an alarm concerning the second wave in Odisha as well. As the annual Class X board examination is on the cards, the spike in Covid cases has compelled the State health authorities to undertake a number of precautionary measures.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) officials on Thursday said that elaborate preparations are being made for the conduct of the Odisha Matric examination 2021, starting from May 3.
BSE President Ramashis Hazra mentioned that the Board is fully prepared to conduct the matriculation examination which will be held amid strict enforcement of the COVID-19 protocols.
“The number of examination centres will increase this year as Covid-19 protocols will be strictly enforced. As per plans, we are expecting a rise in the number of centres by 20 per cent,” mentioned Hazra.
According to Hazra, Covid-19 protocols will be carried out at examination centres relying on the size of the hall. All the rules of the State government will be strictly followed.
“Over 6 lakh students have registered for this year’s matriculation examination. Already, the process of verification has begun. We will take appropriate decision keeping in view the Covid-19 situation in the state,” Hazra added.
