A well-marked low-pressure area has formed over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. As of 5:30 AM Indian Standard Time (IST) today, the system is still in the same area and is forecast to move west-northwest across Odisha during the following 24 hours.
The movement of the low-pressure system is being closely monitored, and the IMD has warned that it may cause hazardous weather conditions in Odisha. People are advised to remain cautious and take appropriate actions to lessen the effects of heavy rainfall.
This weather system is expected to cause heavy rains in many parts of Odisha.
According to the IMD’s forecast for today, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. These districts have received a red warning. Thunderstorms with lightning and high surface winds are also expected in some areas.
Furthermore, an orange alert has been issued for Puri, Khordha, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Cuttack, Koraput, and Nabarangapur, where heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusty winds are expected in one or two locations today.
