Odisha is presently one of the top five states in the country in terms of poverty reduction, thanks to the excellent implementation of pro-people policies and welfare schemes.
According to the NITI Aayog’s National Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), Odisha’s headcount ratio has decreased from 29.34% in 2015-16 to 15.68% in 2019-21.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday took to Twitter to share this achievement of Odisha. He stated:
“The Multidimensional Poverty Index value in rural areas declined from 32.64% in 2015-16 to 17.72% in 2019-21 while in urban areas it declined from 12.32% to 5.42%. MPI value is assessed on parameters like improvement in health, education and standard of living.”
