Bhubaneswar: As the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) today announced that the elderly population and the individuals with co-morbidities will likely be inoculated from March, the Odisha Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department today issued operational technique for the subsequent priority group throughout the State.
In his ‘most urgent’ circular dispatched today to all the Collectors, Municipal Commissioners of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Berhampur, Sambalpur and Rourkela, H&FW ACS P.K. Mohapatra has talked about, “Now, Govt of India, MoHFW has communicated that the vaccination of subsequent priority group of elderly population and individuals with co-morbidities will be taken up in March 2021. In view of anticipated excessive variety of beneficiaries to be vaccinated, all the general public health facilities from tertiary level to Medical College & Hospital, District Head Quarters Hospitals, Sub-Divisional Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs, Health & Wellness Centres and Sub-Centres and so on should be prepared for providing COVID-19 Vaccination services.”
The H&FW ACS has also suggested the authorities to take the next steps for planning:
1. Session shall be planned for 5 days in a week (excluding Sunday).
2. Alternate Vaccinators & Verifiers shall be recognized and trained for COVID-19 vaccination.
3. 6 to 7 Mobile Vaccination Teams in every block/urban unit shall be shaped for conducting classes on the SC degree in a deliberate method.
4. Well being establishments i.e. PHC/UPHC upto Medical Faculty & Hospital shall even be recognized as session sites.
5. ANM from regular health system shall not be engaged for vaccination as they will provide uninterrupted routine health services.
6. Block-wise micro plan shall be ready for session plan, vaccine & logistic supply, mobility support for vaccination team, and so on.
7. Laptop/Desktop shall be offered at the session sites for updating vaccination status & issue of vaccination certificates.
“It must be ensured that every one such facilities shall be mapped to specific Cold Chain Points to maintain efficient supply of vaccines & logistics for vaccination. All preparatory activities shall be accomplished by 28th February 2021,” underlines the circular.
