The state of Odisha is now experiencing severe heat, but MeT predicts that the Kalbaisakhi rain would provide relief today. Light to moderate rain is expected in South Odisha, North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda today, according to the weather forecast.
An orange warning has been issued for ten districts for lightning, thunder, and wind speeds ranging from 40 to 50 kmph. This environmental condition will last for another five days.
Similarly, a yellow alert has been issued for five districts for lightning, thunder, and wind speeds ranging from 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. A yellow warning has been issued for five districts due to heat and Kalbaisakhi rains.
In the previous 24 hours, three districts in the state have reported temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, with Sambalpur becoming the hottest city at 40.6 degrees Celsius. The temperature will drop starting May 23.
