Bhubaneswar: Odisha reported 986 new COVID-19 cases within the last 24 hours, of which 128 were children between the age group of 0-18 years, informed the State Information & Public Relations Department today.
Of fresh cases in 27 districts, 574 have been reported from different quarantine centres and 412 have been the local contacts.
While Khordha registered 373, the highest infections followed by Cuttack with 139 cases, the daily cases in remaining 25 districts stood below 100.
4 districts — Bargarh, Gajapati, Malkangiri and Sonepur — reported only 1 case each in a single day.
With this, the overall COVID caseload increased to 9,99,173 in Odisha with 9,578 active cases so far.
Odisha added 69 more deaths because of COVID-19 taking the toll to 7,223 so far, informed the State Health & Family Welfare Department today.
The fresh fatalities have been reported from 12 districts. While the highest single-day deaths of 12 were reported from Jagatsinghpur, 11 died in Cuttack district. Similarly, the virus claimed 8 lives in Dhenkanal district, 6 each in Bhadrak and Jajpur districts and 5 each in Angul, Kendrapara and Khordha districts. 4 patients succumbed to Covid in Puri district, 3 each in Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts and 1 in Nayagarh district.
