Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha dropped below 1000 on Monday with 868 more people testing positive for the virus within the last 24 hours.
This is the lowest number of cases recorded in a single day in almost 4 months. The state had seen 886 new infections on August 9.
Based on the I & PR department, 104 among these found contaminated are in the age group of 0-18 years. Their number was 138 when Odisha logged 1058 cases the previous day.
Among the new infection, 507 are from quarantine and 361 local contacts.
Khurda reported the highest 256 new COVID cases, followed by Cuttack at 154. Three districts – Sonepur, Nabarangpur and Koraput- reported nil cases.
With these cases being detected from 62119 swab samples, the test positivity rate stood at 1.39 per cent against 1.53 per cent the day before.
