Odisha recorded one positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, as the new sub-variant of Covid 19- JN.1- spreads its tentacles across the country.
On 3rd December the State reported one case for the last time. One more instance has been discovered after a 20-day gap.
Because the variation is highly transmissible, experts foresee an increase in the number of cases. The new variety may not pose a significant risk to patients.
People have been encouraged to exercise caution and adhere to the Covid procedures.
The State Health Department encouraged the elderly and those with comorbidities to use masks when going out and to avoid congested areas.
The state is also preparing to increase testing and reinforce the surveillance system.
According to WHO data, the sub-variant has spread to 41 countries worldwide.
As occurrences increase in other states such as Kerala, most patients with minor symptoms prefer home-based treatment.
