Odisha is facing a severe heatwave, with seven places in the state reaching temperatures exceeding 40°C today. Boudh town has emerged as the warmest, with a sweltering 43.6°C.
Mercury levels have been steadily rising throughout the state, with some towns and cities suffering unusually hot temperatures.
According to meteorological scientist Umashankar Das, temperatures climbed across the state, with Jharsuguda at 42°C, Balangir at 41.7°C, Angul at 41.1°C, Titlagarh at 40.5°C, Sundergarh at 40.3°C, and Bhabanipatna at 40.2°C.
The Odisha government has issued heatwave alerts and urged residents to take care to avoid heat-related ailments.
